The International Center for Research and Studies on Carnival, Mask and Satire, in collaboration with the Coworking Porta Barsento, other associations of Putignano and private citizens and with the free patronage of the Carnival Foundation, organizes an exhibition of documents, papier-mâché artefacts, photos and videos period on the Putignano Carnival in some rooms of the historic center, mostly overlooking Corso Garibaldi, Corso Vittorio Emanuele and via Porta Barsento. The purpose of the initiative is not only to discover the origins, symbols and meanings of the festival and the most characteristic corners of the historic center, but above all to create, through a concrete example of seasonal adjustment of the event, the foundations of a widespread and Permanent Carnival of Putignano.
The payment of an entrance ticket will allow visitors to walk through all the "stages" of an unprecedented, fascinating journey through memory and time, to discover the most important protagonists and the most ancient and traditional aspects of an event that represents a great intangible cultural asset and an important tourist resource not only for Putignano, but for the entire region. There will also be the setting up of a papier-mâché laboratory and the organization of guided tours for schools of all levels.
