Between Putignano and Alberobello, located immediately outside the city about two kilometers from the urban center, there is a chapel dedicated to the minor patron saint of Putignano himself, San Biagio, at the exit / intersection with Viale Cristoforo Colombo (Ex Autodromo).
As per the Latin inscription placed on the entrance door of the church, it was erected in 1961 at the behest of the then municipal administration in charge on the occasion of the restoration and structural updating of the road network of the whole area. The area has notoriously been destined for years to house villas for the holiday of residents and emigrants from Putignano who return to their native town on vacation.
The current chapel replaces an ancient one already present in the same place which, as evidenced by the plaque still present on the site, stood since 1153.
The interior of the church is essential and of sober elegance and it preserves wooden images of San Biagio and San Michele, works of manufacture of a famous artistic workshop in Val Gardena in Trentino.
On 29 September of each year and on the occasion of the feast of San Michele Arcangelo, a country festival with food and wine, songs and dances and joy is proposed by the committee of the residents of the area, which determines the closure of the holiday period
